“The Fisherman Casts His Net” – All Things Align as Willed

An old fisherman arrives at the riverbank and casts his net. Fish willingly swim into it. With each abundant catch, his heart fills with joy. This hexagram

signifies prosperity and good fortune— opportunities come naturally, and success unfolds effortlessly.

The way of the universe is unchanging.

Heaven and earth exist in harmony,

And only by aligning with this balance

can one endure.

A person of virtue (quân tử) follows this natural order—practicing loyalty, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and integrity. The unprincipled, in contrast, are driven by greed, envy, and harm to others. A true gentleman, even in adversity, remains steadfast, never succumbing to selfishness or malice.

However, the Hằng hexagram warns against rigidity.

Stubbornness, arrogance, and resistance to change can hinder progress. True longevity requires balance—the yang must yield to yin, and yin must follow yang. Harmony is the foundation of success. As the ancients said: “Harmony brings prosperity.”
